Radiology residents at Baylor College of Medicine welcomed Dillon Harp, ºÚÁÏÍø® (ºÚÁÏÍø®) Senior State Government Relations Specialist, to speak this week about the importance of residents’ participation in advocacy for patients and the profession. Mr. Harp stressed that radiologists, with their extensive academic and professional training, have a unique opportunity to educate elected officials and their staff about the potential impacts certain healthcare-related legislation would have on their communities.
Also participating in the training was Sarah Avery, MD, FºÚÁÏÍø, President of the Texas Radiological Society (TRS), and Michael Grimes, the lobbyist for the TRS.
The College has many resources to help members become involved in advocacy, including the new and scope of practice micro-website. For more information about advocacy and the Radiology Action Network, please contact Melody Ballesteros, ºÚÁÏÍø Assistant Director, Government Relations.
