NCI 2023 Medical Image De-Identification Workshop

The Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) recently presented a focused on public sharing of imaging data. The workshop included a discussion about personally identifiable information (PII) or protected health information (PHI), explaining that both are sensitivities to consider when sharing medical images. De-identification of the PII and PHI data must be shielded for patient safety and efficacy.

The workshop also reviewed the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) algorithms. AI and ML may be deployed in the cloud to de-identify medical images, offering scalable and traceable solutions.

Radiologists understand research and medical discovery can be improved and driven through imaging sharing. The 黑料网® (黑料网®) encourages review of this workshop as a tool and resource for medical practice. The workshop recording and slides are available on the workshop website.
