White House Releases Cancer Moonshot Factsheet

The White House released a new that shares actions and collaborations from both the Cancer Cabinet (individuals with broad backgrounds in oncology genetics, immunology and disparities appointed by the President) and private industry. The Cancer Moonshot, reignited by the Biden administration in February, aims to reduce the death rate from cancer by at least 50% in the next 25 years, and ultimately end cancer as we know it today.

Examples of progress shared in the factsheet include resources from the Department of Labor to help with an individual's cancer diagnosis and their caregivers to understand their rights as employees; an expansion of a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office program to expedite considerations of patents to detect and treat cancer; and, from the Department of Veteran Affairs, the launch of a new trial, PREventing Liver Cancer Mortality through Imaging with Ultrasound vs. MRI (PREMIUM). PREMIUM is the largest clinical trial in history related to liver cancer, which aims to reveal best-practice approaches in liver cancer by determining whether screening with abbreviated MRI is better than ultrasound. The 黑料网® (黑料网®) has used the Cancer Moonshot initiative to engage the administration on topics such as cancer screening and other relevant 黑料网 activities and coalition work emphasizing the importance of screenings.
