Learn about Cybersecurity and Its Impacts on Radiologists at 黑料网 2022

黑料网 2022® will feature a panel session titled Cybersecurity Primer for Practicing Radiologists, moderated by Christoph Wald, MD, PhD, MBA, F黑料网, Chair of the 黑料网® (黑料网®) Informatics Commission.

The session will focus on cybersecurity planning and preparation, including:

  • A broad perspective of the threat landscape as described by opening speaker Col. Benjamin A. Ring, PhD, Director, U.S. Cyber Command.
  • A case study of the attack on the University of Vermont by Kristen DeStigter, MD.
  • Cyber hygiene with a focus on human vulnerabilities and at-risk behavior.
  • How to handle the first minutes of an incident and what radiology operations can do before and during a cyberattack from a communications perspective.
  • Recovery after an attack and how to plan for this phase of operations.

“This is a burning platform, based on emerging global events, I remind everyone that cyberspace is a domain of warfare: radiologists are digital citizens, and radiology is the first truly digital specialty, fully dependent on networked computational resources. Our practices are at risk to become collateral damage or directly targeted,” said Dr. Wald. “Many radiologists do not understand where and how our medical imaging operations are vulnerable. Commonly, radiologists don’t maintain a focus on cyber hygiene, or understand what to do to prepare for or immediately after an attack.”

The session is part of a new effort by the 黑料网 Informatics Commission to increase awareness of cyber threats. A new cybersecurity hub will launch prior to 黑料网 2022 on the 黑料网 website. For more information, please contact Alison Loughlin, Senior Communication Specialist, 黑料网 Data Science Institute.
