The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a to update regulations maintained by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) that address health IT certification, interoperability standards and information blocking. The proposed rule is scheduled to be published April 18 for a 60-day comment period.
The proposed rule would make various revisions across ONC’s regulatory portfolio, such as:
- Updating the enabled through trusted networks and certified health IT to a newer reference version, effectively adding more imaging data to this minimum dataset.
- Updating ONC’s and criteria, including new AI transparency, testing and risk management requirements for related clinical decision support solutions.
- Clarifications of the information blocking regulations specific to actor definitions and exceptions.
