Understanding RADPEER

Using a secure website, you submit your scores and report acquisition to RADPEER. When analyzing a new case, if there are earlier images of the same area of interest, you may develop an opinion about the previous interpretation while reviewing the new study. If the previous interpretation was scored, this qualifies as a peer review event.

The previous interpretation is scored with a standardized rating scale. No additional interpretation is required on the part of the physician.

A female radiologist and male radiologist engage in conversation facing each other after reviewing brain scans on a monitor and tablet.

RADPEER

Peer Review

RADPEER offers peer review for routine imaging interpretation that’s easy and affordable. Once you submit practice data, a group chair or medical director can access reports securely online. RADPEER reports summarize:

Statistics and comparisons by modality for each participating physician.

Group data per modality.

Data across all RADPEER participants.

Pricing Information

The annual participation fee is based on the number of participants.

RADPEER FAQ

Learn more about the RADPEER process and requirements.

Every group is assigned a unique number that only ºÚÁÏÍø knows. The group assigns each physician a number that only the group knows. ºÚÁÏÍø does not collect or know the individual physicians’ identifiers.

All participants are assigned an initial password that must be changed at first login.

RADPEER reports are privileged and confidential peer review information. Release or disclosure is prohibited in accordance with Code of Virginia
8.01-581.17.

There are no mandatory minimums. Your group may choose a target volume of RADPEER submissions as part of your internal quality assurance program, but there is no ºÚÁÏÍø required minimum.

The RADPEER process is performed during routine image interpretation. If no prior images of the same area of interest exist when a new case is being analyzed, the previous study report will be reviewed. The review scores accuracy using a standardized rating scale.

1 = Concur with interpretation

2 = Discrepancy in interpretation/not ordinarily expected to be made (understandable miss)

3 = Discrepancy in interpretation/should be made most of the time

If assigned scores of 2 or 3, you will have the following options:

  1. unlikely to be clinically significant
  2. likely to be clinically significant

Prior to RADPEER submission, scores of 2b, 3a or 3b should initially be sent for internal arbitration, such as review by chair/medical director or QA committee.

No scoring benchmarks have been established. When you access your group’s report, data is provided for comparing your scores to all other RADPEER participants.

The group administrator can access the reports online at any time.

RADPEER covers multiple modalities and locations. Reports are based on each practice location your group lists in the group account. A site-specific tab can be added to the account if indicated on the application.

RADPEER is only effective when more than one physician can complete reviews of previously interpreted studies. For solo practices, we suggest you develop a documented peer review process to evaluate the accuracy of exam interpretation. Options include the use of locum tenens (when providing vacation coverage) or an agreement with a local academic facility.

Breast imaging practices may participate in RADPEER, but it is not mandatory.

Peer review requirements apply to:

  • CT
  • MR
  • Nuclear medicine
  • PET
  • Ultrasound and breast ultrasound

Not included: mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, breast MRI and radiation oncology.

RADPEER does not collect any protected health information (PHI), so patient confidentiality is not an issue.

Currently, ºÚÁÏÍø® is not accepting applications from international facilities due to ever-changing regulatory requirements associated with the transfer, use and protection of personal information. We welcome you to use our resources to manage your quality-assurance programs.

Please continue to monitor our website for future changes to our international RADPEER® offerings.
