As Congress returns from August recess, one of the most critical actions they must take is to approve government funding for fiscal year (FY) 2024. Congress needs to fund the government by Sept. 30 to avoid a government shutdown. The ® (®) is asking members to by urging your congressional representatives to fund the National Institutes of Health (NIH) base budget for FY 2024, at the highest possible level, and express how a loss of funding would impact radiology research.
It is essential Congress demonstrates its commitment to biomedical research and discovery by providing the highest possible funding levels for federal research agencies and programs. Medical progress, which is dependent on this funding, could be severely hampered, and the development of groundbreaking diagnostics and therapies will be delayed, impacting patient outcomes. NIH funding encompasses support for radiology and imaging research, which includes a wide range of diagnostics, treatments, and therapeutics that benefit patients and their families.
